Global Perspectives in Precision Medicine

Slide1.JPG

Implementing solutions presented by the complexity of disease biology is a challenge encountered by every country, regardless of economic, social or political conditions. Progress in technology development over the last decade has helped accelerate advances in the area of precision medicine and facilitate the delivery of medical treatments that are maximally beneficial to patients, yet significant movement forward in the field is universally limited by time and money.

PRiME aims to connect the world-class researchers at UofT and their novel drug discovery platforms with other leaders in this field around the world.  It is with these partnerships, and with an international and inter-disciplinary approach to sharing knowledge and insights, that we believe we can make significant strides in accelerating drug discovery for novel therapeutics to advance precision medicine.

Our Team

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI) and the Institute for Medical Research, Israel-Canada (IMRIC) at focus on fundamental and applied biomedical research and has scholarships and research funding provided, in part, through the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University, which has a long history of creating key collaborative partnerships with Canada.

As a part of the Frontiers in Precision Medicine Speaker Series, we held a virtual, 3-day symposium in early 2021. The full program and list of speakers from this event can be found here. Recordings of the presentation are also available for viewing.

ETH Zürich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich) is a science, engineering and technology institution and is one of the most prestigious universities in the world. It is recognized for its innovation in drug discovery and delivery technologies.

As a part of the Frontiers in Precision Medicine Speaker Series, we held a virtual symposium in the fall of 2021. The full program and list of speakers from this event can be found here. Recordings of the presentation are also available for viewing.

University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a world-renown centre of medical and biological research and teaching. In addition to its high-profile schools and faculty members, it is the home of the Small Molecule Discovery Center (SMDC) that collaborates with academics and others toward novel drug leads for unmet medical needs.

As a part of the Frontiers in Precision Medicine Speaker Series, we held a virtual, 2-day symposium in Dec 2020. The full program and list of speakers from this event can be found here. Recordings of the presentation are also available for viewing.

Within the Connaught Global Challenge, PRiME has established the following programs:

The PRiME Frontiers of Precision Medicine Speaker Series brings experts from the partner institutions to share their research and expertise with open lectures for the UofT community.

The PRiME PhD and Postdoctoral Exchange Program provides trainee (graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) exchange opportunities in specific research labs of partner institutions to allow hands on training in specialized technologies.

The PRiME Scholars Program for undergraduate students is a 4-6 week program hosted at the University of Toronto to offer the opportunity for local and international students to gain hands-on experience in the labs of UofT PRiME researchers.
