 PRiME-Women’s College Hospital Clinical Catalyst Program Guidelines

Award Value: $60,000 for a Postdoctoral or Clinical Fellow

Award Duration: 1 year

Number of Awards: Funding is available for 2 awards

Focus Areas: All disease areas will be considered. Primary focus is on clinical applications of basic research discoveries.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be either a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow or Clinical Fellow (with less than 4 years PDF training at the time of application). 

  • The proposed project must be a collaboration between two or more principal investigator (PIs), at least one that is based at the University of Toronto and is a member of PRiME, and one that is based at Women’s College Hospital.  

  • If a UofT-based investigator is interested in this program, but is not yet a member of PRiME, please email prime.initiative@utoronto.ca.  

  • PRiME funding is meant to create a unique opportunity and may be used in conjunction with other funding, but cannot duplicate an existing funding source for the project. 

  • The Postdoctoral Fellow or Clinical Fellow cannot be funded by another Research Fellowship during the same period. 

  • The proposed project cannot be already funded by a PRiME Fellowship Award at the time of the application or award. 

 


How to Apply

Applications will outline the applicant and the collaboration’s outstanding potential of productivity working on cutting-edge, high-risk ideas. The application package must include the following components:

  1.       PRiME Clinical Catalyst Award application form

  2.      Project Lay Summary (maximum 250 words): Provide a summary in non-specialist language of the proposal, highlighting specific project objectives and deliverables, and describing how the research is globally competitive and translatable to women’s health.

  3.       Proposal (≦ 2 pages including references + up to one additional page for supporting tables & figures): Provide an overview of the proposed research, including background, methods and specific project deliverables. A short summary of the translational impact of the research should also be included specifying disease indication and/or patient population(s) expected to benefit most. If multiple indications are possible, these should all be mentioned.

  4.       Short Applicant Curriculum Vitae (maximum 4 pages).

  5.       Letter(s) of Support (*maximum 1 page per Supervisor; supervisors can co-sign a single letter of support with a maximum of 2 pages).
